Workshop for ScoSIP/ NIH
Dear Science of Science Policy community,
I am pleased to announce plans for a workshop jointlysponsored by the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Science of Science andInnovation Policy (SciSIP) program and the National Institutes of Health (NIH)to be held April 7-8, 2016 on theNIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The goal of the workshop will be to bringtogether the SciSIP research community with NIH policymakers and otherstakeholders in the biomedical enterprise to:
· Inform NIH policymakers, the research community, andstakeholders in the biomedical community about relevant SciSIP-sponsoredresearch.
· apprise the SciSIP research community about the policyand programmatic questions most relevant to NIH and the biomedical researchenterprise, and provide information on NIH’s data infrastructure and bestpractices for accessing these resources.
The conference is open to SciSIP-funded investigators andother researchers who are interested in presenting papers relevant to theworkshop goals. A call for papers with additional details will becirculated before January 31, 2016. Researchers interested inparticipating are asked to hold the dates of the conference. The workshop is being co-sponsored by NSF and the Officeof Science Policy, the Office of Extramural Research, and the Division ofProgram Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives within the NIH Officeof the Director and the hope is that this event will serve as a forum topromote NSF SciSIP’s objectives of developing new data sources, cultivatingpolicy-relevant research, and increasing the capacity of the SciSIP community.
